Leadership in Angling
So you want to become a Sports Leader?
If you want to put something back into the sport of angling and safeguard its future, you might consider becoming a qualified Sports Leader. Worcester Angling Academy can help you to achieve this important objective, provided that you already possess the required technical skills and abilities.
Why become a leader?
There is a great feeling in catching your best fish or winning
a match for the first time. However, you might be surprised to learn that leading
can be equally if not more rewarding. There is a great deal of satisfaction gained
when your pupil has just caught their first fish. Alternatively, you may have helped
them land their first 20lb carp or 3lb roach — the feeling is just the same.
Worcester Angling Academy Leadership Programme
Our leadership programme aims to take
you through the learning curve required to make you an effective leader. If you have
been fishing for some time and are competent in your speciality, it may be that you
feel the time is right to pass that knowledge on to others.
The first step to becoming
a leader is to enrol on one of Worcester Angling Academy's courses.
This is a course
designed by the academy's tutor/assessor Mark Eacock as an introduction for all leaders
with little experience or knowledge about coaching and is the perfect first step
on the leadership ladder.
The course is open-entry and participants do not need any
coaching or teaching experience to take part, just an interest in leading and the
motivation to improve their skills and understanding.
By getting on the leadership
ladder, individuals have the opportunity to progress up through the various Worcester
Angling Academy's leadership qualifications while constantly enhancing their skills
and knowledge. We hope that this will not only improve the ability of the individual
but also the performance and enjoyment of their students.
Experience is essential
for a coach as so much can be learned from the coaching field, whether it be working
with other coaches and learning from them or coaching different groups of players
with mixed abilities.
A successful coach should always be open to new ideas and want
to be continually improving his or her individual skills and knowledge of angling.
These courses offer the perfect solution to all coaches who aim to improve their
skills, knowledge, experience and enjoyment of the sport.
